Steven Michael “Steve” Bork, age 56, of the Town of Modena, Buffalo County, WI passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 21, 2024 in the Town of Hiles, Wood County, WI as the result of injuries sustained due to a traffic accident.
He was born on September 10, 1968 in Winona, the son of Myron “Mike” and Shirley (Bohlinger) Bork.
Steve attended Cochrane-Fountain City schools, graduating from C-FC High School with the class of 1987.
After graduation, Steve worked alongside his dad on the family dairy farm.
On November 7, 1992, Steve was united in marriage to Darcy Rud at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona. To this beloved union, three daughters were born. Following their marriage, Steve and his wife moved to a farm in Gilman Valley, where they farmed until 2003.
After 2003, Steve worked for Sendelbach Construction, Diversified Farms, and Marshland Acres, and most recently, drove truck for Next Level Express.
Steve loved the outdoors, from the days as a young man on the farm with his dad, working the land of his own farm to later enjoying time on his gator or sitting in his skidsteer to finish that project he started.
He also enjoyed tending to his many pet geese, ducks, chickens, turkeys and pheasants.
It was Steve’s annual event to climb up and decorate the large tree in the yard for Christmas, where he would make sure that the top was brightly lit for all to see.
Steve was a man of great character and will be remembered as a man that would lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Steve’s smile, giving heart and his charismatic personality will continue to bring joy to both family and friends.
His legacy and the memories he leaves us will never be forgotten and will live on in the hearts of us all, especially his precious grandchildren that he loved beyond words.
Steve will be forever missed by his beloved wife of almost 32 years, Darcy; three loving daughters, Courtney (Derek Norby) Bork, Morgan (Shane) Schmidtknecht and Hailey (Loren) Temple; precious grandchildren, Adalynn Schmidtknecht, Landon Temple and baby Temple, due March 2025; his parents, Mike and Shirley Bork; siblings, Cindy (Doug) Wolfe, Sue (David) Wolfe, Dick (Liz) Bork, Amy (Lee) Gossen and Jeff (Gina) Bork; parents in law, John and Sharon Rud; sister in law, Amber (Jamie) Evans; brothers in law, Jared (Anna) Rud and Branden (Ali) Rud; also by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Modena Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Modena Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel and again at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Steve's name.
