Susan Emery Obituary

Susan Emery, age 98, of Marion, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 2:48 p.m. in Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital in Madisonville, KY.
She was born on December 12, 1926, in Herrin, IL, a daughter to Edd and Bessie (Wilson) Moake. She married Cleo Laurel Emery on May 18, 1947 in Piggott, AR, and together they shared over fifty-three years of marriage until he preceded her in death on May 26, 2000.
Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of First Church of God of Marion, IL.
Susan loved her family beyond words. She lived to take care of others, always putting the needs of her family above her own. She loved cooking and baking for her family, and was excellent at it.
She is survived by her son, Dale Emery and wife, Rita Kay; daughter, Donna Sue Stearns; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and several other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cleo; son-in-law, Ronald Stearns; six brothers; and four sisters.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.
Services for Mrs. Emery will be private.
