Elsie Ghesquiere, 92, died peacefully on November 4th, 2025. Her family was most important to her and she passed away with hers lovingly by her side. She was born on June 29th, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio, to John and Mary Gerhardinger. She graduated from Central Catholic High School and worked in the cafeteria at Shoreland Elementary and later at Lions/Dillards.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Poppy" Ghesquiere, of 58 years. Charlie and Elsie raised their 5 children in their lifelong home on Suder Ave until she moved to Moongate and met the rest of the "Golden Girls."

Elsie is survived by her sister, Marie Kopf; and children, Diane (Bob) Demory, John Ghesquiere, Michelle (Steve) Sharp, Joe (Jill) Ghesquiere, and Lisa Hagan. Her favorite title may have been Grandma G to her grandchildren, Jonathan (Cait), Derek (Alyssa), Alex (Arianna), Daniel (Annie), Chelsea (Chris), Amanda (Alex), Bailey (Derich), Zachary, Kristen (Tremain), Jordan, Jaclyn, and Caleb; as well as her 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Ashley and Brian.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13th, from 3-7 p.m., at Pawlak Funeral Home, on 1640 Smith Rd, in Temperence, MI. A Catholic Mass will be held Friday, November 14th, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, beginning at 11 a.m. Father James Morman will be officiating. A private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, tributes in Elsie's memory may be sent to St. John the Baptist Church.
