Thelma Gibb Obituary

A Funeral Service for Thelma Gibb will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain Kathy Doiel officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege.
Thelma (Beard) Gibb, 97 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Thelma was born on October 12, 1926, on a farm eight miles west of Champion, Nebraska, in Chase County, the seventh of ten children born to Otho and Mabel (Devlin) Beard. She was baptized as a child in the Champion Lake. She received her education from a country school in Chase County through the 8th grade.
She was united in marriage to William "Dale" Gibb on December 10, 1945, in Wauneta, Nebraska and to this union five children were born: Jim, Janice, Rick, Raymond, and Joyce. Together the family enjoyed vacations to California and Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The family made their home in Oxford, where Thelma worked at the Oxford Nursing Home in Food Service, and McGees Food Market. They moved to Holdrege in 1978 and Thelma began working at Trailway Bus Station, BD in the Packaging Department for 10 years, the SunMart Deli and Family Dollar.
Thelma enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking and baking for them. She will be remembered for her popcorn cakes, cooking for family gatherings, playing BINGO. She became a member of the First Baptist Church on November 11, 1980.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Jim Gibb and his wife, Donna; daughter, Janice Roberts and husband, Loren; all of her siblings; great-great grandson, Korbin Mercer; and step-great-grandson, Beckett Fox.
Thelma leaves to celebrate her life; her children: Rick Gibb and wife, Roxie of Atlanta, Nebraska; Raymond Gibb and wife, Kathy of Oxford; and Joyce Gibb of Holdrege; five grandchildren: Jamie Gibb; Laurie (Scott) Scholl; Loren Roberts; Michael (Diana) Gibb; and Amy (John) Denton; step-grandchildren: Nate (Katrina) Fox; Kylie (Mike) Wilken; seven great-grandchildren: Colton (Jessica) Wohlers; Dylan (Tiana) Gibb; Zachery (Sarah Jane) Scholl; Lindsey Mercer; Jordan (Ethan) Haarberg; Taylor Scholl and Sarah Scholl; step-great-grandchildren: Kyler and Michaela Wilken; Cameron and Jackson Fox; Jersie and Drake Hermanson; and Tucker, and Ireland Bryan; nine great-great-grandchildren: Brynlee, Henry, Cyrus, Rhyland, Soren, Tori, Brynlee, Jaxen, and Ellery; her sister-in-law: Maxine Beard of Imperial, Nebraska; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
