Thelma Dean Murphy Lindsey, 84, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Petal. Born on December 4, 1939, in the Brewer Community, she was a daughter to Lindsey Woodrow and Tempest Dewdrop Young Murphy. She graduated from SD Lee High School in Columbus, class of 1957. She attended Clark Memorial College where she continued to use her God-given musical talent. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a secretary for the Jones County School District and later worked as a legal secretary for several law firms in Monroe County. She loved people, but having a greater love for children, she kept them in her home, babysitting. Mrs. Lindsey was an accomplished pianist and used her talent to play and sing in church. A member of House of Prayer Baptist Church, she was absolutely devoted to God; and a true ambassador for Christ, she shared the message of faith and the Gospel everywhere she went.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Philip Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Haughton Memorial Park.
