Sharon Layne-Miller, 72, of Massillon, passed away on September 10, 2025, after a series of health problems.
She was born on February 24, 1953, to Wendell and Catherine (Hyman) Adams in Ft Wayne, IN.
Sharon retired as a K-9 Officer and K-9 Trainer for the Massillon Police Department. She also held other security officer positions throughout her career.
In 1989, she married Samuel A. Miller II and lived in Massillon, Ohio.
Sharon loved all animals, except spiders. She always had cats and dogs, and, for a time, she also had birds and fish. When she was young, she enjoyed going to the stables with her great grandfather to see the horses. She was a member of the American Kennel Club and the local Agathon Kennel Club. Sharon also rescued any cat that showed up at her door. She once rescued a feral colony of cats and cared for them all until the last one passed.
Another passion that Sharon had was art. She enjoyed drawing, painting, and later on, sculpting. Her drawings of animals captured their unique personalities. Her favorite color was any shade of purple. She loved all of the family gatherings at the holidays, celebrations, and dinners.
Sharon is survived by her loving sisters, Linda Allard, Elizabeth Coburn, and Leslie Adams; stepdaughter Tricia (Samuel McBeth) Mares; stepson, Samuel Miller III; nephew, Jesse (Jill) Allard; and niece, Lindsay (Matt) Allen; grandnephew, Jude Allen; and grandniece, Evelyn Allen; and cousin, Brit (EnSoon) Messman; and step-grandchildren, Maddy Mares, Kinzly Porter, Kingston Porter, and Khloe Neary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel A. Miller II; mother, Catherine D. Coburn; father, Wendell P. Adams; sister, Lisa Coburn; and stepdaughter, Tracie Miller.
