Thomas "Lester" Bryan, age 83 of
Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed peacefully and surrounded by his family at Northside Gwinnett Medical Center on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. He was the beloved husband of almost 61 years to Patricia Eileen Wilson Bryan; loving father to Elizabeth Long Moses (Donnie) of Conyers, Georgia, and Thomas Wayne Bryan (Shannon) of Greeneville, South Carolina; committed and attentive grandfather to Maggie Long, Jessie Long, Emily Long, Emma Bryan (Joseph Woods), and Thomas "Gavin" Bryan and amazing great-grandfather to Michael "Noah" Sumrell, Lester Braddy, and Sophia McAfee. He was also a favorite cousin, uncle, and great uncle to many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Lester was preceded in death by his father, William Albert Bryan, mother, Nora Haseltine Wood, brothers, James Albert Bryan, Jesse Goodwin Bryan, Robert Lee Bryan, and sister, Carolyn Bryan Taylor.
Lester is a graduate of Greensboro High School Class of 1959 and worked for the Georgia Department of Labor for 30 years. Lester was a member of Grayson United Methodist Church and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and as an usher at the Atlanta Fox Theater. He and Pat volunteered as ushers at the Aurora Theater in Lawrenceville and then became season ticket holders. In addition to his love of family and friends, Lester was an avid reader of fiction and local papers including daily reading of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Herald Journal. He enjoyed country music, was a skilled gardener, and loyal fan of the University of Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and Atlanta Falcons. Lester was a thoughtful, generous, kind, and loyal friend, neighbor, and coworker.
The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of Thomas Lester Bryan will be held on Monday, November 4 at 3:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Funeral Home in
Lawrenceville, GA. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 prior to the funeral. Flowers and memorial contributions made to Meals on Wheels will be gladly accepted.
