Thomas McCray Obituary
Tom served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and then in the Army National Guard until 1966. Most of his career was spent as a postal carrier. This profession suited him well as he liked to walk and was a people person who loved to talk. Tom was also an original member of the Oakwood Village Volunteer Fire Department.
John, as he was called by family, enjoyed staying in touch and looked forward to yearly family reunions in West Virginia and the Labor Day weekend family picnic. He was known for his sense of humor and teasing people. John was an avid walker up until his 90's. Reading was a lifelong pastime with his favorite genre being spy-thriller novels. He was always on the waiting list for new releases because he had read all the titles in the library.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home, 99 West Aurora Road Northfield Center, Ohio, (330) 468-1443. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Crown Hill Memorial Park in Twinsburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Good Shepherd Christian Church, 9571 Shepard Road, Macedonia.
Please note that a Celebration of Life ceremony will be scheduled for a later date in the spring. This will be an opportunity for family and friends to travel, gather and remember John under more favorable weather conditions. www.johnsonromito.com
