Mr. Thomas Gerald Quinn, 80 of Abingdon, Illinois passed away at his daughter's home in Matherville, Illinois on Monday, October 14, 2024, with his family by his side.
Tom was born March 22, 1944, in Abingdon, the son of Jesse and Elsie (Burns) Quinn. He married Donna K. Lewis in 1966 and after 25 years of marriage she preceded in death in 1991.
Tom is survived by his children, Thomas "Tommy" Quinn of Abingdon and Michelle (fiancé Rodney Elliott) Quinn of Matherville, Illinois and two grandchildren, Logan Quinn (27) of Goodfield, Illinois and Kelsey Quinn (23) of Creve Coeur, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna, his 5 years old daughter, Tammy in 1972, four brothers, Ronald, Jake, Jack and Roger Quinn and his sister, Stella Quinn.
Tom attended Abingdon schools and later worked for the Abingdon Pottery for over thirty years until their closure in 2001. He was a handyman by trade being able to build almost anything that was asked of him. Tom was a true musician at heart, a singer, a drummer and songwriter, playing in several local bands, including "Going Down Like Water" and "Ringo Rockers". He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and loved to fish, especially catfish with his son, Tommy. He enjoyed a good road trip with anyone that wanted to go.
Tom's wishes were to be cremated. Memorials may be made to the family. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is assisting his family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.h-p-w.com
