Thomas Joesph Russo passed away on October 7th, 2024 in his home in Scarsdale (Town of Greenburgh), at the age of 85, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born on November 26, 1938, in Greenburgh, NY, he was the son of the late Marion and Louis Russo.
Thomas is survived by his daughter, Maryanne and her husband Dino, his son Louis and his wife Lisa, his daughter-in-law Donna, his former-wife and mother of his four children Rosemary, his dear friend Jane and her son Eric and daughter Sarah, Mara mother of three of his granddaughters and Kiesha mother of two of his grandsons. Thomas has 11 grandchildren, Sophia (Sean), Taunil (Brian), Sarah, Vincent, Stephanie, Louis Jr., Angela, Valentina, Thomas Leonardo, Thomas James and Danny. He also has 2 great-grandchildren Callan and Aurelia. Thomas was predeceased by his sons Thomas and James, as well as his brothers, Louis and John.
Thomas was a lifelong resident of Greenburgh where he was born and raised. He graduated from Edgemont High School in 1957 as did his four children. He served in the United States Army, was a foreman for the Town of Greenburgh Highway Department, was a sole proprietor of the Greenville Liquor & Wine Shop and Hansel & Gretel Hair Stylist Shop, and a Property Manager.
Thomas was an accomplished athlete, setting records as a high schooler. He played many sports including baseball, basketball, football and track. Baseball was his true passion, and he even received a professional baseball invitation to spring training for the Kansas City Athletics after a regional tryout at Roosevelt High School in Yonkers.
After retiring in 2007, he shared this passion with his grandchildren, coaching and coming out to watch them participate in sports. He even helped them with their fantasy sports leagues, hand-writing packets of stat sheets for their drafts. Thomas was always around to help his family and found joy doing yardwork, digging in the backyard, barbequing, and most of all – spending time with his kids and grandchildren.
A wake will be held on Friday, October 11th at McMahon Funeral Home in White Plains from 3:30pm to 8pm. The Funeral will be on Saturday, October 12th, at Sacred Heart Church in Hartsdale, New York at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Thomas's memory be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation (Put in memo-Restricted to "Time Away Respite") in memory of Thomas Russo.

We may have been a distance apart geographically but I enjoyed the times when I was in New York and stayed at your house. I know you are making everyone in heaven smiling like our friendship made me smile.
