Niagara- Thomas Edward Sweig, 64, of Niagara Wisc., passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Florence Health Services.
Tom, or more commonly known as "Sweiggy", was born on June 8, 1960 in Iron Mountain,
Mich., to Thomas, and Joan (Cowling) Sweig.
He was born and raised in the Niagara area where he graduated from high school. After graduation he went to work for the Niagara papermill. Tom stayed working for the Niagara papermill until he retired in 2004.
Tom was a sports fan and would root for his teams, the Packers, the Brewers, and the Milwaukee Bucks. He lived alone but had a very active social life. Tom was part of a local pool league, and knew all the local activities happening around him. The highlight of his life was his daughter, Annaka. He enjoyed spending time with her. Taking her to Friday night races as a kid or more recently attending truck pulls to cheer on his son in-law. He also enjoyed attending his daughters Horse shows for the TCHA. Tom was always so proud of her and her accomplishments, he made sure to tell everybody. A family tradition he always looked forward to was his annual ice fishing adventure with his family every December 26th, and then a friend's fishing adventure every summer. One of his favorite stories to tell was of his green Ford Maverick. He was able to attain some high speed with it before getting into a crash that ended with him being in a coma for 3 months back in 1981. He was known for his unique phrases. "Hey hey hey, what do you say", "If you don't you won't" and " Well, la te dahh". Tom was greatly loved, and will be missed by all those who knew him.
He is survived by his father, Thomas (Ginger) Sweig; mother, Joan Cowling; daughter, Annaka (Tim) Coron; brothers Daune Ozzello, Daniel (Michaela) Sweig, Kevin (Stacy) Sweig; sisters, Barb (Tom) Kelly, Kristi (Jeff) Lambert; grandchildren, Olivia Coron, TJ Coron, and good friend Rick Huotari.
The family would like to thank the staff at Florence Health Services and Florence Rescue.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home-Niagara Chapel, Niagara, Wisc. The Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Felix Abano Jr. will officiate. A celebration of life will be held on May 10, 2025, at 4:00 pm, at The Pit Stop Bar Grill.
