Timothy Wilson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gorgen-McGinley & Ayers Funeral Home on Feb. 17, 2026.
Timothy (Tim) Wilson, 62, of Mineral Point, Wisconsin, passed away on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2026, in hospice care at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. Tim left us besieged by ALS, which invaded, took hold of and eventually overcame his otherwise healthy and vital being.

Tim was born in Lansing, Michigan, on November 9, 1963. He grew up first in Michigan and at the age of nearly 11 moved with his family to Tempe, Arizona. Tim finished junior high there and while in high school he moved to live with his Aunt Dina and his cousins, Dawn, Terry, Chris and Jennifer in Las Vegas. In 1983, Tim briefly moved to Chicago and lived with his brother Richard and Sam, who would become his brother in-law, and thereafter he moved to Denver to work with his brother Kevin. Tim ended up moving back to Arizona, where he lived for a period of time and in 1993 he moved back to Chicago, first staying again with his brother Richard and thereafter on his own, where he met and married Maureen Sloan. with whom he had twins, Katie and Cole, born in July, 2001.

In the late 1990s, Tim moved to Madison, Wisconsin and a few years later settled in Oregon, Wisconsin, where he lived for a number of years. Eventually Tim made his way to Mineral Point, where he settled and made his home in a simple, 1920 Craftsman house on South Wisconsin Street. In 2019, Tim met and in 2021 married Oksana Akrish, who at the time was a native and resident of Ukraine and who eventually came to Mineral Point to make a home together with Tim. Oksana was with and cared for Tim throughout his struggle with ALS.

Tim is survived by his wife, Oksana, his children, twins, Katelyn (Katie) Sloan Wilson of Los Angeles, California and Colton (Cole) Wilson of Gilbert, Arizona; his stepdaughter Ksenia (aka, Ksusha); Tim's mother, Irma Mahaffey, of Chandler, Arizona; his siblings: sister Kathleen (Michael) Jackson of Redondo Beach, California; brother Richard (Sam Burckhardt) of Wilber Township, Michigan and Chicago; sister Colleen (Ken) Owens of Chandler, Arizona; and brother Kevin (Christine Elam) of Huntington Beach, California. Tim is also survived by his Aunt Jeanne Chaney of Ripon, Wisconsin, and Uncle Michael (Teri) Mahaffey of Sunrise, Arizona, as well as by his second and irreplaceable and inimitable set of siblings, the Lundys: Dawn Lundy Whaley (Mario Gonzalez) of Wilmington, NC; Terry Lundy of Buenos Aires, Argentina; Chris Lundy of Hawai'i; and Jennifer Lundy Runion of Northern California; and by countless other relatives and friends, including Jackie Kirby Evans of Chicago.

Tim was hardworking, dedicated and strong-willed. He cared deeply for others, and was, at his core and his charm, a hopeless romantic. He didn't complain. He didn't give in or give up-even to his last breath. And what he did, he did his own way.

Oksana and the family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical Center, and in particular, to Dr. Nassima Baba-Ahmed Fertikh, whom Tim relied upon, and had great and unqualified trust for, and who gave Tim the necessary understanding of and thorough, consistent and compassionate, empathic care for, ALS, as well as the host of specialists and caregivers there who worked with Dr. Fertikh and who helped and guided Tim through his battle with ALS, and special thanks and appreciation as well, to Agrace Hospice Care of Wisconsin (www.agrace.org), including but not limited to, Bobbie, Leah, and Sherri, for their exceptional, thorough and consistent, and empathic, care and assistance to Tim.

Interment, with a celebration of Tim and his life, to be held Saturday, May 16, 2026 in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, with details to be further announced.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that you please consider giving to ALS research via www.als.org, or I AM ALS https://iamals.org/give

I have fond memories of Tim during his time in Chicago. He was a lovely man. My heart goes out to his wife, Katie, Cole and all the Wilson family. I know he will be greatly missed.
