Marie Hamlin Wallen

Born: July 27, 1950 | Died: July 28, 2025

Marie Hamlin Wallen, born July 27, 1950, in Asheville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home in Newport, Tennessee, on July 28, 2025.

Marie dedicated over two decades of her life to the medical field, where her caring and compassionate nature touched countless lives. Her strength and loving spirit were evident in all she did and will be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Terry Wallen; four children: Stephanie Turner (Partner James Stallard), Terry Wallen (Wife Kim Wallen), LaDonna Call (Husband Richard Call), and Michelle Hamlin; twelve grandchildren (Ian, Landon, Kayleigh, Aaron, Victoria, Lily, Brandon, Cheyenne, Austin, Corey, Tracey, Austin); five great-grandchildren; her sisters Elaine Haynes and Linda Laflure Nelson; brothers Lee Hamlin and James Hamlin, and beloved canine companion, Bugsy. Marie was also cherished by a large extended family who will deeply miss her presence.

She was preceded in death by her mother Betty Hamlin, father James Hamlin, mother-in-law Alice Eckenrod, and father-in-law Jim Eckenrod.

Marie's legacy of compassion and resilience lives on through the many lives she touched. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Marie's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
