Travis Kelley, age 95, of Morton, Texas, died Tuesday, October 1, 2024 in Olton. He was born May 4, 1929 in Wolfe City, Texas to Fred J. and Erma (Tucker) Kelley. He married Artie Ledbetter in Portales, New Mexico on February 1, 1950.
Travis moved to Morton in 1941. He farmed for many years, and was a police officer in Morton at one time. Travis also worked for Cochran County and retired from there.. twice. He was an avid fisherman and loved Lake Stamford. He also enjoyed hunting and often took his grands with him. Travis adored his wife, and they loved to dance. He was always lucky and loved to scratch off lottery tickets. He is preceded in death by his wife, Artie; a son, Alton Kelley; his parents; four sisters, Gladys Cranford, Helen Holbrook, Cleo Crowell and Laqueita Emerson; and four brothers, Alton "Booster" Kelley, Ebert Kelley, Troy Kelley and Truman Kelley.
Travis is survived by his son, Wendell Kelley of Abilene, Texas; his two daughters, Treva Crump of Lubbock, Texas and Andrea Warton and her husband, Ronnie of Dexter, New Mexico; and his nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be sent to New Mexico Children's Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, NM, 88130.
