Troy G. Hall, age 55, of Millersburg, died Monday February 17, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Troy was born in Omaha, Nebraska on September 3, 1969, raised in Onaway, and graduated from Onaway High School in the class of 1990. His grandparents, as well as living in Northern Michigan, were factors influential in Troy's upbringing. With woods and water in all directions, Troy's grandfather, an avid outdoorsman, shared his passion for hunting and fishing with Troy. He taught him the skills needed to become a successful hunter and fisherman and instilled in Troy a love for the outdoors. Some of Troy's fondest memories were of guiding elk hunts with his grandfather.
It was while working at Royal Linen in Cheboygan that Troy met Lynn Ann Sias. They married at the United Methodist Church in Onaway on September 28, 1996, and made their home in Cheboygan. Their three children, Adriana, Kordelle, and Zacuray completed their family and made Troy the happiest man to have a wife and children he adored and were the light of his life. He was a devoted husband and a proud, supportive father. Two peas in a pod, Troy and Lynn were soulmates and best friends. It was rare to see one without the other.
Through the years Troy worked in various jobs, but most recently he worked as a stock clerk at the Petoskey Meijer store. In his free time, he enjoyed building models. Quite skilled, he crafted cars, boats, and planes, carefully gluing each piece and then adding finishing touches with a custom paint job. An avid fan of racing, Troy loved watching NASCAR and rarely missed race night at the Onaway Speedway. His favorite television network was MeTV where he watched a variety of classic shows from years gone by. A proud Cheboygan Hockey Dad, Troy loved watching his son play hockey. He enjoyed weekend tournaments and cherished the friendships formed with other hockey families. Troy was a volunteer for the Forest-Waverly Fire Department and belonged to the Cheboygan Community Wesleyan Church.
Friendly and social, Troy loved to talk. He could strike up a conversation with a perfect stranger, visit with family for hours, and enjoyed reminiscing with old friends. It would be difficult to find someone as kind-hearted and genuine as Troy Hall. He was humble, grateful, and spoke well of everyone. Through his battle with cancer, he never complained or felt sorry for himself. His incredible faith, positive attitude, and appreciation for those providing care to him was an inspiration.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 28 years, Lynn; daughter, Adriana; sons, Kordelle and Zacuray, all of Millersburg; his mother, Pamela (Don) Tuttle of Tower; and sister, Angie (Scott) Bruce of Flint. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Mary Sias of Onaway; brothers-in-law, Rick, Gary (Dana), and David Sias; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many cousins, including cousins Lorrie (Rick) Kowalski and their family who cared for Troy in their home.
Troy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernie and Esther Hall; sister, Tina Swindle; and father-in-law, Gary Sias.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Onaway at 11:00 AM on March 1, 2025. Those planning an expression of sympathy please consider a donation in memory of Troy to help with final expenses, c/o Chagnon Funeral Home, PO Box 480, Onaway, MI 49765.
