Tyler Williamson Tegen, 31, of West Orange, New Jersey, passed away unexpectedly on September 26, 2024, leaving a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born and raised in Manhattan, Tyler's inquisitive mind and passion for technology shaped much of his life. He began building computers when he was only 13 and learned how to mine Bitcoin shortly thereafter. After earning his Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he returned to New York City where he began his career in the tech industry. An entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his own company, Tegen Rev Ops, where he could share his passion with others. His new home in West Orange, where he moved with his wife and daughter just last month, was fully equipped with the latest innovations he adored.
Tyler's love story with his wife Gabriella began in grade school, though they only grew close during college. They married almost 3 years ago. He and Gaby were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Mila, who brought him immense joy. During the pandemic, they moved from New York City and settled in Hoboken. After a few years in Hoboken, they purchased their first home in West Orange.
Outside of his career, Tyler enjoyed simple yet meaningful moments-whether it was experimenting in the kitchen, hitting the slopes to ski, or traveling with his family. He had a particular love for Sci-Fi films, and his passion for reading helped him stay connected to his imagination and love for discovery. Tyler treasured time spent with family, and those who knew him will remember him for his quick wit, kind heart, and ability to become an expert at anything he was curious about.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gabriella Tegen; treasured daughter, Mila Tegen; parents, Douglas and Katherine Tegen; sister, Charlotte Tegen; grandparents, Dale and Norma Brown; in-laws, Alla and Serge Grinchenko; and his dog, Riley. Also surviving are a host of extended relatives and friends.

I only had a few months of working with Tyler after he was hired to help our tech startup. Every meeting with him was a good time; he brought an impressive skill set along with constant positivity and humor to every project. Losing him has affected everyone at our small company-he is deeply missed.

I still remember sweet Tyler as a baby when we Harper mothers brought in our little ones for Baby Day. He was so adorable and cuddly, and it was such a special time to get to share our children with our work friend. I loved sharing stories with Katherine about our kids over the years..Tyler was so good at anything that had to do with a computer! Katherine, I am sending you, Doug and Charlotte so much love and comfort. You are in my prayers today and always.

"Teegs (aka the Milk Man, coined during his bulking phase) was an incredible open minded, intellectual, and unique soul that connected to people from all walks of life and places... He always knew how to put a positive spin on all types of situations. He comprised a unique, creative, and hilarious sense of humor that has created countless memories for so many people.

My earliest memory of Tyler is of him in his room building his PC. He would´ve been 12 or 13 at the time. I visited the Tegen household frequently during those years, and Tyler was usually in his room working on something cool like that. His skills in pursuing his interests seemed beyond his years.
Charlotte was my first best friend when I moved to New York, and it was quickly apparent just how much she adored her brother, and how much he adored her. I´d not really seen anything like it in siblings that age, and not sure I have since..
Since high school, I´ve always remembered Tyler as well-loved, funny, calm, and having an effortlessly comforting presence. I especially remember his closeness with Charlotte. I was delighted to learn a few years ago that he and Gaby had built a life together, and more recently that they´d welcomed a beautiful daughter.
I´m terribly saddened to have learned of Tyler´s passing, and my thoughts and love are with all of Tyler´s family and loved ones. Sending endless love , always
