Vicki Lynn Hinen, 56, a beloved homemaker and school teacher, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born on October 6, 1967, in Whitley County, Indiana, to the late Kenneth D. Foster and Patricia A. (Knight) Foster, who survives.  Vicki's life was a tapestry of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.  On, June 20, 1998, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Arcola, Vicki was united in marriage with Jeffrey A. Hinen.  Together, they explored the world hand in hand, creating cherished memories that will endure for eternity.

Vicki's journey was marked by profound milestones in education and service. She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1986 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Ball State University in Muncie, IN, in 1990. Her thirst for knowledge led her to pursue a master's degree in early childhood literacy from Purdue University in 1999. Vicki's commitment to nurturing young minds extended beyond the classroom as she spent many years as a dedicated teacher at Whitley County Consolidated Schools.

A devout member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Arcola, IN, and a past member of Tri Kappa, Vicki exuded warmth and compassion in all her endeavors. Known for her infectious smile and boundless enthusiasm for life, she touched the hearts of everyone she met. Vicki's spirit shone brightest during her travels with her beloved husband Jeff.  They loved to drive in their red convertible looking for ice cream shops to visit.

In her leisure time, Vicki was an avid reader and she enjoyed spending time with her many friends and family and found solace in scrapbooking, collecting Longenberger baskets and antiques - hobbies that reflected her love for preserving memories and cherishing time-honored treasures.

Vicki is survived by her devoted husband of 26 years, Jeff A. Hinen; loving sons Douglas E. Hinen and Kenneth T. Hinen; mother, Patricia A. Foster; sister, Kimberly (Glen) Graves; and brother, Neil (Marsha) Foster.  She was also predeceased by her brother, Kenneth D. Foster II.

Memories of Vicki will forever linger in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her - a beacon of light whose laughter echoed through the corridors of time, whose kindness knew no bounds, and whose legacy of love will continue to inspire generations to come.

Visitation will be 10:00 am - 2:00 pm Saturday, May 11, 2024, and Monday, May 13, 2024, from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm, with a rosary recited at 3:00 pm at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Tuesday, May 14, 2024, with calling one hour prior at St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Arcola, 12305 Arcola Rd., Fort Wayne. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
