Joyce Evans met her Lord and Savior on September 17, 2025. She was born on July 16, 1931, in Greenville, South Carolina. On October 25, 1957, she married the love of her life, Curtis Evans. In 1965, Joyce and Curtis moved to Morristown, Tennessee, where together they managed country clubs. In 1976, they relocated to Tyler, Texas, to open the Western Sizzlin Steak House, where they worked side by side until their retirement in 1991. Joyce lived a life of faith and service. She volunteered with P.A.T.H. and was a devoted member of Pleasant Retreat United Methodist Church. Known for her compassion and kindness, Joyce was the kind of person you never forget. She served others selflessly, cherished her family and friends deeply, and left the world a brighter and better place. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Evans, parents Eddie Lou Hamby and Joseph Stephens, brother Thad Stephens, and sister-in-law Brenda Stephens. She is survived by her loving family including her brother Richard Stephens, children and their spouses, Charles and Yumei Evans, and Richard and Vicky Pittman; her grandchildren David and Allyson Evans, Kunal and Chanelle Patel, Joseph and Marisa Pittman, and Jack and Soozi Branch; her great-grandchildren Mykala Patel, Eli Patel, Ashleigh Webb, Megan Pittman, Caleb Pitman, Micah Reed and Madalin Reed; as well as many nephews and nieces.
