Walter Graham Obituary

Walter Gerald Graham, age 95, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility surrounded by his family, under the care of Heartland Hospice.
Funeral Services for Walter will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, July 10, at 4 p.m. with Pastor Dean Willard officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends the day of the service from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Isabella County Community Soup Kitchen. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Walter was born on October 1, 1928, in Detroit, the only son of Clyde Curtis and Lena Augusta (Timm) Graham. Walter graduated from East Detroit High School before working for General Motors. He worked for GM for over 29 years before retiring. Walter married the love of his life, Mercel Rose Weinand on September 1, 1948, in Angola, IN. Walter was a private pilot and enjoyed the time he spent flying his airplane. He was an avid reader and enjoyed time spent on the water fishing.
Walter is survived by his wife of 75 years, Mercel Rose Graham; his four children, MaryEllen (James) Schafer of Weidman, Barbara (Patrick) Millican of Inverness, FL, Diane (Barry) Cammarata of Colorado Springs, CO, and Patrick (Donna) Graham of Weidman; 10 grandchildren, Alex (Kassandra) Abbott, Elizabeth Abbott (Richard Camara), Coral (Anthony) Filippelli, Payton Millican, Petra Millican (James Bartoszewic), Nicholas (Jennifer) Cammarata, Andrea (Steven) Robbs, Wesley (Brooke) Graham, Lena (Derek) Meeusen, and Jacob (Samantha) Graham; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Shirley Kern of East Pointe, MI, and Carol (Michael) McCarthy of Rochester, MI.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Peggy DeFiore; and brothers-in-law, Robert Kern and Joe DeFiore.
