Wayne S. Hartman, 69, of York, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 9, 2025, after a brief illness at York Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Debra (Ilyes) Hartman, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage, filled with love and laughter.

He was born on July 24, 1956, in York, PA to the late Samuel and Geraldine (Striebig) Hartman. Wayne was a 1974 graduate of Dallastown Area High School. After graduation, he worked for GTE for several years. After the birth of his first child, he made a career change and joined his wife's family business, Charles Ilyes Family, Inc. Wayne enjoyed his work and was always looking for ways to expand the business and create new products. He worked on the farm, at the butcher shop, and went to Penn Market in the early years. In recent years, his passion became the Ilyes Roadside Market, where he loved serving those who visited the stand. Wayne considered his employees and customers as friends.

Wayne devoted a lot of his time to his church family, New Fairview Church. He was a Sunday School teacher, deacon, and later became one of several ministers at the church. He loved serving in ministry from telling children's stories, which was one of his favorite things to do, to coming alongside someone grieving a loss. He loved others well. His greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He never grew tired of spending time with the family, whether during work or play.

In addition to his loving wife, he is also survived by his sons Andrew W. Hartman and wife Angela and their children Addison, Avery, Ashlyn, and Aubrey; David S. Hartman and wife Breanna, and their children Malachi, Moriah, Jaylinn, and Titus. He is also survived by his sister Sharon Pfaltzgraff and brother Samuel Hartman, Jr. and wife Patricia, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Mark C. Hartman, and twin sister Jane Winemiller and her husband William Winemiller.

A viewing and time to visit with the family will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. and again Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM with a service to celebrate his life to follow at 2:00 PM at New Fairview Church, 1873 New Fairview Church Rd., York, PA 17403 with Pastors Charles Ilyes and Doug Striebig officiating. Interment will follow in the New Fairview Church cemetery with a fellowship meal to follow.

Wayne will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, leaving behind a legacy of faith, dedication to his work, serving others selflessly, love for his family, and love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

"Well done, my good and faithful servant"

I was saddened to hear of Wayne´s passing; I first met Wayne and Deb at Penn Street Market shortly after I moved to the York area in 1977; Wayne was always very helpful, and he always greeted me with a friendly smile. He and his smile will be missed by many.
