William C. "Bill" Bright
Wooster, OhioWilliam C. Bright, known to many as "Bill", entered into his eternal life on Thursday, October 16, 2025, in his home surrounded by his family.
Born on November 14, 1939, in Braxton County, West Virginia to George and Lovie (Crites) Bright, Bill was the youngest of six children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and two brothers, all of Braxton County, West Virginia.
A U.S. Army Veteran, Bill served his country and supported his troops during the Vietnam era while stationed in Baronne, France.
Though his heart always remained in West Virginia, Bill returned to Ohio after his service and married the love of his life, Karen L. Harris Bright.
If you knew Bill, his roots were proudly in West Virginia, but for the love of his family, he spent a majority of his life in Wayne County,
Wooster, Ohio.
Surviving is his ex-wife- yet lifelong partner and friend- Karen L. Bright; daughters and sons-in-law, Mike and Teresa Wengerd, Larry and Sundee Porter; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Renee Bright, all of Wooster.
Bill is also survived by nine grandchildren and their spouses, Anthony Wengerd, Taylor Wengerd, Macie and Jared Young, James and Tiffany Porter, Michael and Sebrena Porter, Becca Porter, John and Courtney Baumer, Shea and Morgan Stair, Austin James "A.J." and Claire Bright along with thirteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and 5 siblings, Bill was preceded in death by his great grandson, Camden Baumer.
Bill had a deep love for his family and community. He served Wayne County faithfully as the Records Manager and The Printing Dept. for the Wayne County Commissioners office until his retirement in 2000.
During retirement, Bill enjoyed returning to his West Virginia roots, spending time with family, and pursuing his many passions, especially home decorating.
He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, his exceptional cooking, and his unmatched talent for decorating and crafting. There wasn't a deal he couldn't find a meal he could not remake or a project he couldn't create.
