William Dobbins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery on Sep. 26, 2024.
We are here to celebrate the life of William Eugene "Gene" Dobbins. He went to his heavenly father on Wednesday, September 18th, 2024. Gene was born in
Mesa, Arizona on March 21st, 1933. He lived and worked in Mesa for 91 years, Gene graduated from Mesa High School with honors, then served in the U.S.
Army from 1953-55. Using the GI Bill, he earned a BS degree in geology from Arizona State University. He then became a small business owner and investor.
Gene's life was deeply intertwined with his beloved wife, Wanda, whom he met at church. This meeting blossomed into a 60 year partnership filled with love,
laughter, and shared faith. He was an avid racquetball and softball player, he enjoyed water sports, gardening, and all types of travel.
He was known for being intelligent, soft spoken, humble, and generous. Gene had high expectations for himself and those he loved. He lived a life of hard work, integrity and faith. Although he always enjoyed humor, in his later years, he truly embraced his humorous side, played games, and became a social butterfly.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Chris (Penni), Tracie (John), Russell (Karen), and Mary (John); his grandchildren, Heather, Stephen, Daniel, Brittnie, Jonathan, Anthony, Nicolas, Victoria, and Samantha; a great-grandson, Adriel, as well as his extended family and many good friends.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to honor his memory through donations to organizations such as Shriners Hospital, St. Jude's Hospital, or Tunnels to Towers.
