William "Bill" Alfred Filer, 72, of Hollywood, FL., formerly of Elizabeth Township, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024. He was born August 5, 1952 in Waynesburg and was the son of the late Alfred William and Marilyn Joyce (Rose) Filer. Bill was a member of Bethesda United Presbyterian Church, Elizabeth and was retired from the US Postal Service in Florida. He was a 1970 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School. Bill enjoyed games of chance, watching old TV shows and tinkering around with things. He was great with his hands and was a hard worker. He was also a devoted lifelong fan of Terry Bradshaw and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is survived by his sisters, Robin Lynch of Pickerington, OH., and Shelly F. Ostroff of Jefferson Hills, brother, Kevin (Tammy) Filer of Smithton, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Darin Filer. Friends are welcome Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 10 am to 12 noon at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, Director. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 12 noon with the Rev. Walter Pietschmann, officiating.
