William Fisher Obituary

William Edmund Fisher, 93 of rural Alexandria died on Saturday, January 11, 2025, in Community Hospital, Anderson after a brief illness while surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born in Alexandria on February 6, 1931, and was the son of Edmund V. and Lois A. (Richardson) Fisher. He proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Laura Blanche Clark on July 2, 1955, she preceded him in death on September 27, 2015.

Bill was a member of the Church of St. Mary’s, Alexandria and the Frankton May-Berry American Legion Post 469.

Bill was a hard-working man almost always working two jobs at the same Time. Starting at the age of 13 he was driving a truck for the Richardson Gravel Pit in Alexandria, later he work at the Sunoco Gas Station on Washington St., he tended the boilers at Red Gold for a time, through the years he drove school buses for Red Corner, Alexandria and Frankton schools and he retired after 40 years from Delco Remy of Anderson Plant #3 as a crane operator. His favorite hobby was tinkering with anything that had a motor. 

Those left to carry on his legacy of strength and love are his children, Connie Fisher Jaqua, Denise (John) Crawford, Lisa (Rodney) Rhodes and Dean Fisher. Also surviving are his 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers, Donald Fisher and Joseph Fisher and sister, Barbara Sigler.

A graveside service for Bill’s family and friends to gather will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in Park View Cemetery, Alexandria where burial will follow. At Bill’s request there will be no public visitation held.
