WD Johnson, born William Delbert, age 85, of Harshaw, WI, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at his home under the care of his family and Compassus Hospice Care. He was born in Minnesota on June 6, 1939.
He was a devoted husband, father, and family man who touched the lives of those around him. WD dedicated 35 years of his life to working at the papermill in Rhinelander, WI, and ran his own painting business parttime on the side where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his colleagues. In his personal life, he enjoyed many hobbies including golfing, sharing Sunday breakfast with friends, and observing the wildlife around his home. His love for nature was a cherished part of his life as was his fondness for his cat which brought him immense joy and companionship. Family camping trips were among his daughters' most meaningful memories of their father. A time when he shared his love for the outdoors with them. WD's passion for the Green Bay Packers and his preference for watching CNN 24/7 at decimal 100 were well known among friends and family alike. He often spoke fondly of his favorite place, Alaska, where he felt a deep connection to the wilderness.
WD is survived by his oldest daughter, Paula Rood, and his younger daughter, Tina Johnson, as well as his cousin, Carl Cook. His warmth, humor, and loving spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that his family will hold dear forever. He is now with his partner in crime, his wife, Alfreda, in Heaven.
Memorial services for WD Johnson will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Generations Funeral Home at 5:00 PM. Rev. John Uhlarik will officiate. The family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00 PM until the time of services at 5:00 PM. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.
