Al Scully of College Park Maryland, passed away after a brief illness on December 12, 2022 at the age of 78, surrounded by loved ones at Casey House Hospice. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Patricia Scully; son Kyle (Amy) Scully and stepson Chris (Staci) Smith; grandchildren, Abigail Scully, Sierra Smith and Sean Smith, his sister Leslie, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Al was born in Washington, DC and joined the Army after graduation. He was proud to have served his country. He had a long career as a lineman for C&P Telephone (Verizon), member of Local #2108, and had enjoyed his retirement for the past 20 years. He was also a member of America Legion Post #217, and VFW Post #5627 in College Park. While Al enjoyed spending time with his friends at both the Legion and the VFW over the years, he also enjoyed watching his sports. His beloved Redskins/Washington Football Team (no matter what their name changed to), the Washington Nationals baseball, and the MD Terps. He also enjoyed going to Ocean City every year with family, but his most cherished times were with his loved ones at home, including his grandkids and his nieces and nephews, who all have wonderful stories of their Grandad and Unkie Al. Pat, Kyle, and all of the family agree they will miss his crazy sense of humor and his loud infectious laugh.
A viewing with service to follow will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022, 3-6pm at Gasch’s Funeral Home in Hyattsville. The family will receive guests at a repass following the service.
