William Alvin (Bill) Nicholson, son of Alvin and Wanda (Tucker) Nicholson, was born in Paris, TX on March 18, 1943 and passed from this life in Canadian, TX on January 11, 2025 at the age of 81. Bill grew up in Monahans, TX with his 2 sisters, Reta and Sue, and 1 brother, Arthur. He attended Monahans High School and was already known in the community for his strong work ethic and love of fast cars. Bill moved to Higgins after High School and lived with his uncle and aunt, Virgil and Mozell Martin, and cousin Steve, where he worked at Bybee Waterwells. He met Linda Butts, a high school teacher at Higgins ISD, and the two were married January 29, 1966. Two children were born to this union, Donna Lynn and Billie Sue.
Bill was an auto mechanic at heart. He worked at several garages before finally building one of his own. He also drove an 18-wheeler for many years. He loved drag racing, fast cars, and watching westerns on TV. He served on the city council, was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and attended the Church of the Nazarene where he was an usher and served on the church board.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Wanda Nicholson, brother Arthur Nicholson, and sister, Sue Kelley. He is survived by his wife, Linda Nicholson, daughters Donna Graham of Richardson, TX and Billie Sue King and husband Brad of Hewitt, TX. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Alexandra and husband Clayton, Seth, Abbey and Austin. He also has 1 surviving sibling, Reta Barnard of New York City. And let's not forget about his most important and favorite surviving family member – his dog, Lucky!
Through the years Bill made some very special friends who have played a big part in his life. We want to thank you for those friendships.
