William Arnold Price, 100 years old, passed away peacefully in Mountain View Manor in Bryson City, NC on Friday, November 15, 2024.
Arnold was born in Scott, Georgia on May 4, 1924 to the late Roosevelt Martin Price and Nanny Smith Price. In addition to his parents, Arnold was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Nezzie Lee Fountain Price.
Arnold was a long time senior manager at Seaboard Finance Company in West Palm Beach, Florida and was the senior administrator for 25 years at lake Worth Towers in Lake Worthy Florida. He retired to Sylva 36 years ago where he loved serving and attending East Sylva Baptist Church. He also faithfully served as a Gideon in Jackson County.
After finishing his sophomore year of college, Price requested his draft classification be changed back to 1-A. On January 2, 1944 he entered the U.S. Army at Fort McPherson, Georgia. With many awards and honors, he served in World War II and the Battle of the Bulge.

Arnold Price was awarded our nation's Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Presidential Citation with three clusters, Combat Infantry Badge, French Crois De Guerre, France's highest honor. His Bronze Star was for meritorious service. In April 1945, Audie Murphy requested Arnold Price stand Honor Guard when Murphy received his Medal of Honor from General Bradley in France.
William Arnold Price is survived by Patricia Jean Price McDonald, daughter; Steven Wayne Price, son; grandchildren, Heather Ann McDonald Tritt, Jan Elizabeth McDonald Ponzio, Hollynn Elizabeth Price, Paige Fountain Price Davidson, Miles Martin Price; great-grandchildren, Vincent Joseph Ponzio, William Blake Ponzio, Reid Christian Ponzio, Noah Robert Tritt, Nathaniel Arnold Tritt, Leland Snow, Kaiah Elizabeth Price, Marley Blake Price, and Lucy Olive Davidson.
William Arnold Price devoted his life to serving God, his family, country, and the many friends he loved so much. Dad, until we meet again.
A funeral service will be held for Arnold at 2:00pm on Saturday November 23rd at East Sylva Baptist Church in Sylva North Carolina. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday November 26, 2024, at 2:00pm at Mount Olive Church of The Nazarene Cemetery in Wrightsville Georgia. The address is 591 Mount Olive Church Road, Wrightsville GA, 31096.
