William Vaughan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ryan Funeral Home and Crematory on Sep. 26, 2024.
William Kermit Vaughan, 81, of Wildwood, Georgia passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
He was a 1961 graduate of Dade County High School and served 4 years in the United States Air Force. He was also a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Trenton Masonic Lodge #179 F&AM. He worked 25 years with the Boilermakers Union Local 454 and then 15 years with TVA where he retired. He then worked 16 years as a bailiff in the Dade County Court System.
Kermit was a patient, kind and gentle man who loved the Lord and lived his life as an example to many. He was a faithful member of Morganville United Methodist Church for many years as well as Trenton Methodist Church.
He was known for his beautiful vegetable gardens where he spent countless hours. Many people, even complete strangers, would stop by to admire them or to ask questions about gardening.
Kermit was devoted to his family and loved them dearly. His happiest moments were sitting on the porch with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Boston and Lois Vaughan, mother-in-Law, Lucile Word, father-in-Law, Alodeen Word, sisters; Myrtle (Junior) Martin, Flossie (Glenn) Brogden, and Wilma (Bill) Courtney.
Kermit is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Alojean Vaughan; sons, Joey (Lowanna) Vaughan & Jeff Vaughan; daughter, Hope (Jason) Monday; grandchildren, Ashton (Tye), Justin (Taylor), Colton (Whitley), Sydney (Shane), Jessica, Hannah and Kate; great-grandchildren, Madilyn, Jasper, Callie, Jayce, Kace, Jackson, Jettson, Boston and Annlea; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 28th from 2-6 at Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton, Georgia and at 3:00 pm on Sunday at Trenton Methodist Church with the funeral following at 4:00 p.m. with full military honors presented by American Legion Post #106. Burial will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eddy Gifford, Richard Doyle, Danny Hall, Joe Reid, Michael Murphy, and David Kirk.

"I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."
