Willodene Garrett Puckett, age 76, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away on November 1, 2024 in her home surrounded by her family.
Willodene was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 31, 1948, to Rev. James Clay Garrett, Sr. and Lois Manis Wachter.
In addition to her parents, Willodene is also preceded in death by her stepparents, Lula V. Garrett and James W. Wachter,Sr., her brother J.C. Garrett and half brother Winford P. Oney and half sister Shirley Wachter.
Willodene is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, James H. Puckett, Jr.; her son Steven Puckett and her daughter-in-law, Yvonne Puckett; her daughter, Nicole Cummings and son-in-law Jeremiah Cummings. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren Abigail Coomer, Emily Puckett, Steven Puckett, Jr., Taylor Cummings and Hayden Cummings.
Willodene was blessed to be loved by many family members, church members and friends.
Willodene was a graduate of Withrow High School in 1967. She married her high school sweetheart James on August 31, 1968, and started their family with Steve in July 1970 and Nicole in 1978. She was a stay at home mother for many years, later working at the Milford Chamber of Commerce, GMAC, and retired from Siemens.
Willodene enjoyed all things historical and loved touring homes, and reading every plaque posted. She collected spoons from each state visited, teapots to display in her kitchen, and owls were scattered throughout her home.
Willodene also loved to read, sci-fi and historical fiction were her favorites. She enjoyed playing solitaire, Mexican train and cards with her friends and grandchildren; she would not let them win.
Most of all, she loved being around the ones she loved, hearing their laughter and cheering them on. If you sat next to her she was lovingly touching you and she had something special with each grandchild. She was and will always be the most loving person in their lives.
A memorial visitation and service will be at Alexander Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Gallatin, Tennessee on November 9, 2024, 11am-6pm cst.
A graveside service will be held at Mt. Helen Cemetery in Allardt, Tennessee on November 10, 2024 1:00pm cst.
