It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Yolanda Andre Betancourt. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She passed away at 75 on October 27, 2024, in Winter Park, FL surrounded by her loving family.
Yolanda was born on January 17, 1949 in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela, to Jose Betancourt and Ailsa Betancourt. She was one of nine children and grew up in a home filled with love, family, music and joy. While living in Caracas, working for Ericsson she traveled to visit family in Trinidad and to see her sister in New York before moving to the states. She was a bowling champion, basketball player and a trained singer with a well known traveling choir. In her travels she met many celebrities including her favorite Julio Iglesias.
She came to the states in the '70s destined for New York to be with her sister but met and married Eugene Andre and they had 2 beautiful daughters; Erica and Michelle. After living in Houston for many years, participating at various churches and her girls school, the family left lifelong friends and moved to Orlando, FL where she remained until her passing.
In Orlando Yolanda lived a rich life. With a contagious energy she was always surrounded by loved ones laughing and having fun. She loved to travel visiting family and friends. And whether baking delicious homemade bread, cakes or cookies - she was always in the kitchen. She was spectacular cook feeding many a hungry belly outside her own immediate family with any of her dishes. She loved to sew and knit making clothes not only for her daughters but for their dolls too! A singer at heart Yolanda had the voice of a songbird and loved to dance. She was always the life of the party.
She was also a devoted friend and was always there to help when needed. Her selflessness garnered her true friends throughout her life - ones that are now family. Iraissa, Magnolia, Allan and family. Patsy, Maritza and Janette are among the few who will miss her dearly.
Yolanda is survived by her daughters, Erica and Michelle, son-in-law Steven and her grandchildren Kenzo and Santiago. Her siblings; Margarita, Rosalia, Elsa, Pepe and Pedro Luis many nieces, nephews and great-neices and nephews in Venezuela. Not to mention being a forever daughter/sister-in-law and aunt to Eugene's family and a second mother to many of her daughters friends. Always there for everyone with unconditional love.
She will be missed by all who have met her. She was a beautiful, kind, smart, funny, talented and amazing woman - with jokes for days. Her passing is a loss that will be felt for years to come. After battling Alzheimer for over 10 years; she is now resting in peace.
Yolanda is preceded in death by Jose Betancourt - father, Ailsa Betancourt - mother; her brother Francisco and sister Anna.
The service for Yolanda Andre will be held on Thursday, at 3:00pm at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home.
