Zeb Morrison Obituary

Zeb Nathaniel Morrison, 46, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024 of pneumonia at Wesley Medical Center. Zeb was born in March 1978 to Gary and Judy Morrison in Arkansas City. His name, "Zeb," was not a shortened name. Defined, it means "gift from God." We believed he truly was a gift from God.
He was severely injured in a choking accident at age 11 months. Prior to the accident, he was a normal, very energetic, inquisitive baby. He loved music and would keep time to the beat at as young as 9 months. At 2 years old, Zeb began a program of rehabilitation by patterning. The program incorporated over 600 volunteers working 18 hours daily for 6 1/2 years.
Zeb attended school in Winfield until he was 23 years old and lived at home with his family until age 19, except for a 3 1/2 year span at Winfield State Hospital. When he was 19 he moved to residential care, most recently living in Twin Rivers housing and attending day services at the workshop.
Zeb loved his family and enjoyed being included in family dinners and outings, and just visiting with everyone whenever he could. He had a warm and very loving personality. He loved to tease. He was often heard to say "you're crazy," "hello green giant," or "you're fired." He enjoyed listening to and attending most sports, especially swimming where he could participate fully and he felt free. He continued to love music and concerts all of his life.
He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and Truth Talk.
Preceded in death by his grandparents, Del and Babe Rademacher, Keith Morrison, and step-grandfather, Peter Watkins; and aunts, Kay Pudden and Ruth Hlavacek.
He is survived by his parents; two brothers and their spouses, Geoff and Meredith Morrison and Dustin and Tara Morrison; nieces and nephews, Sydney, Ainsley, Liam Dane and Graham Morrison; paternal grandmother, Pamela Watkins; uncles, Rod Rademacher, Kevin and spouse Lisa Morrison, Neil Morrison and Richard Hlavacek; numerous cousins; and many, many friends.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 320 W. Central Ave., Arkansas City.
A special thanks to all the many volunteers, health care workers, teachers and daily caretakers who spent many hours dedicated to Zeb. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Special Olympics, where Zeb participated on many occasions.
