James Turner Obituary

James "Jim" LeRoy Turner, 74, formerly of Peoria, Illinois, peacefully passed away on Dec. 10, 2023 in Callahan, Florida. He was born on Oct. 27, 1949 Jim will be remembered as a man of integrity, love, and dedication.
Jim found joy in connecting with people, cherishing the relationships he built with his customers, the devoted crew that supported his endeavors, as well as all the other small businesses that supported him. He was known for giving second chances. Jim was a cheerleader for anyone challenged by life's struggles.
He wanted your life to be better for knowing him. Always donning a cowboy hat and a warm smile, he embodied a spirit of kindness and authenticity. Jim believed in doing things the right way, Your Way! with unwavering commitment to excellence.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Rhonda Turner; his sister, Dianne Dunning; and his children, Jessica Steedman and her husband, Darriel Steedman, Shannon Turner and his husband, Adam Huttsell, and Michelle Jones and her husband, Johnny Jones. Jim's 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews, will forever carry his legacy of love and wisdom.
Jim was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jim and Laverne Turner Sr.; his brother Donald E. Turner; and his grand-daughter, Sarah Steedman.
Throughout his life, Jim pursued various careers, including farming, carpentry, real estate, and trucking. However, it was his role as the owner and CEO of Turner's Cut Above LLC, Lawn & Landscaping Service that truly defined his professional journey. He took pride in his work and was highly regarded for his expertise and dedication.
In his leisure time, Jim found solace in the simple joys of life. He had a passion for horses. He enjoyed the camaraderie of bowling, cherished moments spent at the beach, and embraced new experiences, such as learning to dance. His work and hobbies reflected his appreciation for the beauty and serenity of nature.
A memorial service will be held on Dec. 30, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Lannie Road Baptist Church, located at 5998 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
Jim's presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of hard work, kindness, and devotion to family will forever be treasured.
May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who mourn his loss.
