NEWMAN - Fred Trevarthan III, 85, of Newman died peacefully at home on Saturday (Oct. 5, 2024), surrounded by family.
Fred was born in 1939 to Fred and Ruth Trevarthan. He graduated from Indiana State University. He retired from the University of Illinois. A lifelong musician, he was a bass player in the Gene Trimble Band. He served as a deacon at the First Christian Church of Newman.
Fred is survived by his wife, Mary; sister, Ann Trevarthan; daughter, Denise (D'Arcy) Ballinger; son, Ken Trevarthan; stepdaughters, Laura (Stan) Sarentino, Kim Everman and Shannon (David) Culler; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be on Friday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church, 107 W. Green St., Newman. A graveside service will take place at a later date at Roselawn Cemetery, West Terre Haute, Ind.
Memorial donations can be made to Transitions Care hospice of Champaign.
