SCHERERVILLE, IN - Dennis Wayne Churilla, 83, of Schererville, Indiana passed away peacefully October 29, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Marilyn (nee Dyke) Churilla; children, Dennis (Heather) Churilla, Daniel (Laura) Churilla, and late Donald (Danielle) Churilla; grandchildren, Emily (Noah), Molly (Tyler), Ethan, Chloe, Sydney and Gavin; great-grandchildren, Beau, Brady, Roman and Alana; sister, Geri Haliburton; in-laws, Arlene (late Simon) Visser, late Beverly (Wesley and Carol) Mesman, William (Harriet) Dyke, late John (Elaine) Dyke, late Tom (Christy) Dyke, Janis (David) Standarski, Linda (Scott) Paarlberg and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dennis was born in East Chicago, IN and graduated from Hammond Morton High School in 1959 where he was MVP of the basketball team.
Dennis built a successful career in banking and he used those skills to give financial advice and a listening ear to others until the end of his life. He was a friend to many and he found joy in helping others. He was an enthusiastic and tireless cheerleader for his grandchildren's sports activities. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling with his friends.
Visitation will be held at Munster Church, 214 Ridge Road, Munster, IN on Monday, November 4, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the service immediately following.
Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN.

So sorry Mr. Churilla is gone. I appreciated his time helping with sports and he always had time to chat. He was a great example of talking to me as a man adult.

My deepest condolences to the entire family! Dennis & I worked at First Bank, enjoying our work days & discussing financial & local government issues. He was a great source of calm & timely advice. We will greatly miss him. Celebrate his memory & his life!
