Keith Shumaker Obituary

Keith E. Shumaker, 82, of Jefferson, died Monday, March 9, 2026. He was born June 6, 1943, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Kenneth C. and Mary Josephine Johnson Shumaker. He was a 1961 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School. Keith was employed as a hoist operator for the United Mine Workers of America and RG Johnston Construction. He was a member of the McClellandtown Free Methodist Church, where he had also taught Sunday school and was treasurer. He was an active member and former assistant fire chief of the Rices Landing Fire Company since 1968. He also helped with the ambulance as an EMT. On October 31, 1964, he married Katherine Speelman, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Tamara (Barry) Metcalf of Blain, and Kenneth Shumaker of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; and a brother, Larry Shumaker of Jefferson. Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a daughter, Tracy Shumaker. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16, with a gathering of family and friends from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Jefferson Community Center, Jefferson United Methodist Church, 190 Washington Street, Jefferson, PA 15344, with Pastors George and Virginia Eberhart officiating.
