Dorothy Malone Obituary

Dorothy Malone
11/11/1942 - 10/16/2024
Dorothy Garrison Malone, 81, passed away on October 16th surrounded by family in Houston, Texas.
Dorothy was born on November 11th, 1942 in El Campo, Texas to Jack & Margaret Garrison. Dorothy attended Marian High School and later attended the University of Texas at Austin where she earned her undergraduate degree in Education. Just after graduation on June 13th, Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Pat Malone, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Houston. While Pat was serving our country in Vietnam in 1967, Dorothy worked with local families tutoring kids after school. The couple moved to Austin in 1969, where Dorothy completed her education and taught as a 5th grade history teacher. She enjoyed reading, hiking mountains, Texas football, and traveling. Mostly she loved her family and her five grandchildren which were the highlight of her life.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Jack Garrison, and her husband Pat Malone. She is survived by daughter Jennifer Stevenson and husband Mark of Houston, son Patrick Malone and his wife Elizabeth of Dallas, grandchildren Haley and Harrison Hester of Houston and James, Jack and Winifred Malone of Dallas.
Dorothy will be missed as she was one of the funniest, most loyal, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother that anyone could ever hope for.
And just at the moment when someone at my side says: "There, he is gone" There are other eyes watching him coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: "Here he comes!" – Henry Van Dyke

Dorothy and I were friends from St Anne´s grade school and all through high school. At a reunion many years later our husbands met and enjoyed each other so much that we began meeting for dinner. Much later as widows we would get together at our respective retirement community and visit. I will definitely miss her.
