Gerald Frey Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" R. Frey passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, as a result of complications from surgery. He was born January 19, 1942, to Robert and Bernice Frey in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Jerry graduated from Oshkosh High School. He served honorably in the Army, and patrolled the German borders of Bindlach, Hof, and Kronah. He worked at Mercury Marine before becoming the owner of Freyer Tucks Tavern, later venturing out to own his business, J&S Tap Service, for 54 wonderful and adventurous years. He was also a partner at Bottoms Up for 18 of those years.

Jerry served on the Winnebago Town Board for 36 years as Supervisor and Town Chairman. He was a lifetime member of the YMCA and Tavern League, and was a supporter of the Neenah Animal Shelter. Jerry held a love for all animals. He had his own petting zoo which included rabbits, donkeys, pigs, geese, ducks, goats, turkeys, chickens, and a rhea. Jerry also held many names such as sailor, farmer, tap cleaner, chairman, dorkweed, fisherman, best friend, and dad.

Our beloved Jerry was known to many and loved beyond measure. He is survived by his sister, Karen Moyle, of Oshkosh; (step)children, David Wissink, Leslie Haas, Stacy Kerwin, Tyler Zick, and Kylie Wenhardt; (step)grandchildren, Broady and Kenton Chapman, Jordan, Carter Zick, and Colby Haas; and four (step)great grandchildren. They all shared a piece of his beautiful heart.

Our family would like to thank the wonderful medical staff at Aurora Hospital for the care they provided.

There will be a Celebration of Life at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Point Drive, Oshkosh on Monday, January 20, 10:00am - 1:00pm. A private family interment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park.
