Theresa J. (Duyck) Hunker, 54, a lifelong native of the Cornelius community, died Sunday evening, Aug. 26, 2018 at her home.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at the Visitation Catholic Church, with Fr. Michael Vuky, celebrant. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will precede the Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial Rites and Interment will follow at 2 p.m., at the Visitation Cemetery in Verboort.
The family suggests that contributions be made to Peace Keepers N.W., a non-profit organization that supports Chaplains in their efforts to minister to the community and its citizens in crisis, in Theresa's memory at: www.peacekeepersnw.org/

I am saddened with a heavy heart for Steve and his dear family but I rejoice for her earthly suffering has finally ended. I believe we are here on earth to strive to become saints and Theresa has surely achieved that title. She truly was carrying the cross of Christ and has earned her heaven with such love,courage,joy, & faith like our Lord. What Theresa and her family went through was nothing short of heroic as do many others with cancer and other horrible diseases. May we follow Theresa's example as she has affected so many lives and pray to her to help us carry our daily crosses & difficulties in life. Steve you and your family gave her such love and beautiful care that is so remarkable to see it's a honor to be a part of this family. Love and prayers
