Paul N. Weiss

1954 ~ 2025

Paul Weiss passed away on August 30, 2025, surrounded by family after complications associated with surgery and a rare autoimmune disorder. He was born January 10, 1954, in Salt Lake City, Utah at St. Mark's Hospital and grew up surrounded by the rich community of the Guadalupe Center, which his mother Suzanne Miles Weiss helped establish. He was a graduate from Judge Memorial High School in 1972. During these early years he worked at the Cafe La Morena alongside the Quinonez family, who stayed his lifelong friends. After studying abroad for two years at Franklin University Switzerland, he was admitted to the University of Utah where he studied chemistry and then went to Medical School. He graduated in 1981. During this time he discovered a passion for motorcycles and met his wife of 46 years, Bonnie Pruitt Weiss (with a lot of help from his BMW R/60). He served a medical residency at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University before a long, devoted career in radiology at St. Mark's Hospital and Utah Imaging Associates. He retired in 2021. Paul loved his family, friends, photography, astronomy, and music. He was often seen enjoying live music in his tie-dye t-shirts, reading sci-fi novels, or using his telescope to share the universe with his many friends and camping comrades. He is preceded in death by his mother (Nancy Suzanne), father (Norman David), and brother (Steve) and is survived by his wife Bonnie, children Ben (Jen) and Megan (Russell), his siblings Joni, Jane (Steve), Rik (Kay), and Kathy (Kip), and many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews. We are all in awe of his hard fight with VEXAS syndrome and his immense love for us. Special thanks to his entire medical team. A celebration of life will be on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at 6:00 pm at El Chihuahua Restaurant 3926 Highland Dr. SLC. Dress code: Your best tie dye!
