I met Tony in 1995 when I was first stationed at Dam Neck. He and I hit it off right away and I saw in him a true dedication to the Navy/Marine Corps Sports, health and wellness and fitness programs he managed at Dam Neck as Athletic Director. He never hesitated to support me and the Marines of the Dam Neck Detachment and I will forever be grateful for his efforts to make the annual Captain's Cup events competitive and challenging for all the military units on Dam Neck. I enjoyed our many sports talks and we all appreciated him as a referee on the sports fields. In retirement, he never missed a day to come to Dam Neck to work out and he stayed engaged as a referee for local youth sports programs here in Hampton Roads. Tony was one of a kind, a gentle, levelheaded and kind soul, everyone who got to know him loved him! May you R.I.P. in God's Loving Care. Semper Fi! Frank Cubillo, Col, USMC (Ret.).

To Lynn & Family: I am so sad to hear about Tony's sudden passing. He was a terrific person, whom I enjoyed being with every time "the gang" got together. Tony had a quiet presence and a warm, authentic, loving nature, plus a great sense of humor! No matter where we gathered~ at Paul's house around Christmas time, at restaurants, and that special time on Ron Bennett's boat~ we had a fantastic time with lots of laughter! Tony was a deeply faithful man of God and very devoted husband, father, and friend. He dedicated years of service to his country and community, and I am pleased to know he is being honored for his outstanding service. I feel so blessed to have gotten to know Tony over several years through my extended family of our mutual friends in Virginia Beach. The last time we got together was on New Year's Eve (2022) for lunch at Bravo's at Town Center. Looking back, I regret not taking a photo of us that day, but I have many fond memories to cherish and photos to remind me of our great times together. I'll certainly miss Tony. God bless him, and may he rest in peace.
With Love & Sympathy,

Scarcelli Family,
I am so sorry to hear this. Your Mr. Tony was a great man. I always loved to talk to him and Mrs. Lynn after church. My Dad and Mr. Tony always talked about the high school football game after church during football season. Wish I could be there, but I am leaving out of town tomorrow afternoon. He will be greatly missed. Sending hugs and prayers to the whole family.

Tony was a fine man, father and official. I was lucky enough to have known him and his children for many, many years. His legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren who reflect his passion for life and family. It was a true pleasure to have known this fine man.

I met Tony through the Captain's Cup athletic program at Dam Neck Naval Base in 1990.
Worked with him for 3 years and he eventually recruited me for the SEFOA.
"Toe Knee" was a friend and mentor for more than 25 years.
His personality, guidance and friendship will be greatly missed, but I am honored to have known such a great man!
God bless the Scarcelli family and God speed #50!

My deepest sympathies, I knew Tony ever since I was a Commanding Officer for one of the commands on Dam Neck in 1988. Spent many hours over the years since at the gym and saw and talked to him frequently. Captain J. P. W. Decker, USN Ret.

May God bless you and your family. I worked with "Old Man Tony" for years on the football field. He showed me the ropes and never got mad at me for messing up. I will never forget the good times we had together. He was like a dad to me. I will miss him.

Dear Scarcelli family,
Sympathy and strength to you in the loss of your patriarch. Tony was a super guy that I knew for many years through sports and I even officiated with him on occasion. The best. I also commend his parenting as I know his son and others to be outstanding .

I had the privilege and the honor to know Tony when I was stationed at Damn Neck from 1986 to 1989 I coached the Damn Neck varsity women's softball team one summer and it was a privilege and an honor to work for Tony. I now live in Lafayette Indiana and I read the Virginia pilot online everyday and today is when I saw Tony's obit. You had a wonderful father and a wonderful husband I could tell this by the way he was when I would talk with him at Damn Neck, thank you Tony Fair Wind and Following Seas! OS1 Steven M Priest.
