Stuart Kinne Obituary

Stuart Lawrence (Stu, Pete) Kinne, 90, of Claverack, NY, died on October 14, 2025, in Albany, NY. Stu was born in Granville, NY, to G Lawrence Kinne & Maude Beebe Kinne on July 9, 1935. He grew up on the family farm in W Rupert, VT, went to high school at Washington Academy in Salem, NY & graduated in 1953. He went on to serve in the armed forces, where he was stationed in Germany. He married his wife of 67 years, Beverly Hyatt Kinne. They moved to Providence, RI, where Stu attended college at Bryant College, and their first child, Calla, was born. After graduating with a BS from Bryant College in 1960, Stu got a job with International Harvester Co. He moved his young family back to W Rupert, VT, where their second child, Julie, was born. By 1963, the family had moved to Livingston, NY. Stu opened his own International Harvester Co dealership, Columbia Tractor Inc, in 1964 with his partner James Hamilton & they grew it into a successful business originally located in Kinderhook, NY, and later in Claverack, NY. Stu and his then partner, daughter Julie, sold Columbia Tractor to Salem Farm Supply in 2018, and Stu retired in 2020 after nearly 60 years of business & service to the agricultural community.

Stu is survived by his wife, Beverly Hyatt Kinne of Claverack, NY, his daughters Calla Kinne (Dan Coutin) of Niskayuna, NY & Julie Kinne (Dawn Hunt) of Claverack, NY. He is survived by his siblings Sylvia Ashton and Randle Kinne, his grandsons Jacob Green & Benjamin Green, along with several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, G Lawrence Kinne & Maude Beebe Bibens.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 25th, from 10 a.m. until Noon at the Raymond E Bond Funeral Home in Valatie, NY, to be followed by a service at Noon.
