John Hawks Obituary

Mr. John Benjamin Hawks, 81, of Lambsburg, VA, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Hillsville Health and Rehab Center in Hillsville, VA. He was born May 5, 1943, in Surry County, the son of the late Dixie and Grace Cooley Hawks. Mr. Hawks spent his life as a dairy farmer and was a member of Lambsburg Christian Church. Left to cherish his memory are his two sisters-in-law, Ann Hawks and Mary Kay Hawks; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hawks was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Alice Martin, Nancy Helton, and Elizabeth Ann Johnson; and four brothers, D.B. Hawks, Jr., Neal Hawks, Tom Hawks, and Frank Hawks. The funeral service will be held Monday, November 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Lambsburg Christian Church, with the Rev. Ronald Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lambsburg Christian Church, P.O. Box 70, Lambsburg, VA 24351. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
