George Sprague Obituary

George R. Sprague
November 4, 1924 - October 11, 2023
Our Dad passed away at 98 in Santa Rosa California.

He is survived by Michael R. Sprague (Jeri) and Charlie A. Sprague (Becky). He is also survived by his Stepdaughter Lynn Heidebrink (Steve) and his partner of many years, Maria Mattos. Dad had six grandchildren and 10 1/2 great-grandchildren.

He was born in Fulton California. and died in Santa Rosa California. The youngest of four siblings born to LZ Sprague and Stella (Mason). He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and his wife Alvera.

He fought in WW11, landing at Omaha Beach, through Northern France, stopping in the Ardennes region of Belgium at the Battle of the Bulge as a heavy gunner/sharpshooter in the 741st Field Artillery unit. Dad drove a concrete truck for Redwood Redimix/Kaiser for 27 years. Dad was somewhat of a hoarder in later years and left his sons a household of "stuff". To him, they were great finds, to others mostly junk.

Dad attended funerals in later years but was adamant about not having one-so there you are. We'll miss you Pop.

I have many memories of uncle George! He was a tease and he teased me my entire life! I loved arguing with him over politics. He was a good brother to my dad with endless visits at the end of my dads life! Mike and Charlie have fun with all of your dad´s treasure finds!
