Mark Stephenson Obituary

Mark M. Stephenson, 86, of Smicksburg, West Mahoning Township, peacefully passed away on Jan. 2, 2025, at his homestead, historically known as the John B. McCormick Stone House and farm, where he was born and resided his entire lifetime.
He was born on May 18, 1938, the son of Frank J. Stephenson and Margery (McCormick) Stephenson.
He married Ella Mae Streams on Aug. 26, 1961, and together raised two sons. He was proud of his community, neighbors and family and their collective ancestry, whose talents and spirit built the community he cherished so much. Throughout the years, he was active with his family in several business activities in the local area and remained so until his passing.
He is survived by sons Mark A. Stephenson (Maryann) and Gregory W. Stephenson (Edith); grandchildren Emily, Sarah, Lane and Allan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a 40-year member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, a 53-year member of the Operating Engineers Local 66, and a member of Smicksburg United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father- and mother-in-law; and a brother, John F. Stephenson.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
Interment will take place at the Georgeville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers or sympathy gifts, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Punxsutawney Area Hospital Foundation, 81 Hillcrest Drive, Punxsutawney, PA 15767, or The Salvation Army, 229 W. Mahoning St., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
