Hamburger & wife Elisha; nieces and nephews, Lucy and Macy Hamburger; Analea, Honor, and Charlie Buffington. Luke proudly served as a full-time member of the US Army National Guard and led a drug enforcement unit as a Staff Sergeant until being honorably discharged.
He began his distinguished career in law enforcement as a dispatcher for the town of Shrewsbury, before joining their Police Department as a part-time Patrolman. A man of great faith, Luke was a true believer in God and a devout Christian. The quintessential gentle giant, Luke was known for his kindness, generosity and sense of humor. Always learning and curious, he was blessed with a brilliant mind and possessed knowledge of all topics. Away from his life of service, Luke was happiest alongside his wife Ruth, son Ethan and family on the many cherished summer vacations spent on the shores of Maine. Above all, Luke was a devoted family man, loving husband, proud father, devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend.

Hello, me and my friends were messing around in school one day looking up random names of people pared with food when we stumbled upon Luke Hamburger. I do not no him personally but he became a trend around our school for a time because of his jolly looks and funny last name. This was around 2022-2023 and we looked him up original but I was reminded of him recently and I am so sad to see he has passed away. I which much condolences to him and his family and his legacy will be cared on forever. God speed, bless you. This photo is the original one that went viral around our school.

I met Luke when we hired him into BPD. We wound up working shifts together, and I can say that he was one of the best right away. Luke always tried to find the good in everyone, even when they didn't really want to see us. We had of share of tough calls and managed to find fun and sometimes distraction when we needed it. I knew that if I had to go through a door, he would have my back. He served with honor and integrity and inspired others to do so too.
As a friend, Luke and I would often talk about our families, hobbies, hiking spots, or vacations we took. It was clearly evident that he was a dedicated husband and father. His love for his wife Ruth was clear every time he spoke about her. He would just light up. When Ethan decided on a career path, Luke was surprised but so supportive of his son. Just after a parent-teacher conference, Luke told me of Ethan's successes and how the teachers loved his attention to detail and how well Ethan did. I thought Luke was going to explode he was so proud.
In the days ahead and beyond, we must all find the light Luke put in our lives and hold on to it. He was the penultimate protector of people, a shepherd of society. He was a dedicated family man. No matter how you knew him- co-worker, friend, family, husband or father, he loved us all.
