Orville Reinhart Obituary

Orville Donald Reinhart, age 94, of Glendive, Montana, passed away the night of September 25, 2024, with his bride of 71 years and his daughter at his side. Per his request, no services will be held. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Don, as he was known to his family and friends, was born to Tobias and Emma (Galster) Reinhart in Beulah, North Dakota, on August 13, 1930, the oldest of four children. The family later moved to Fairview and then to Glendive. He worked on the family farm from an early age, attended schools in Glendive, and joined the Army in January of 1949. He served in Korea during the war, as a Supply Sergeant and then a Police Officer, and was honorably discharged in June of 1952, at which time he returned to Glendive. He married the love of his life, Phyllis Jean Graham, on June 12, 1953. Don worked for Montana-Dakota Utilities and as a Police Officer for the Glendive Police Department, before becoming a Mail Carrier for the U.S. Post Office in 1960. Don and Phyllis added two children, Dawn Marie and Sean Alan, to their family in 1964 and 1966. He retired in 1990, but retirement was not for him, and he began working for the Ranger-Review in 1993 as a Paper Carrier, back to walking and delivering things, fully retiring from that in 2013 at the age of eighty-three. He was the oldest Paper Carrier, and they said one of the most dependable. He continued walking just to walk for more than another 10 years until he had to stop in 2024 due to health issues.

Don was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and attended the Glendive Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He loved his family and was a soft-spoken man with a gentle soul. He enjoyed playing card games (pinochle, canasta, rummy), spoiling his grandchildren, walking, watching the Green Bay Packers (most of the time), cooking his specialties (vegetable beef soup and homemade pizza), word search puzzles, bargain grocery shopping and having morning coffee with his friends at Subway.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elaine Roney; two brothers, Dale Reinhart and Darold Reinhart; and two nephews, Kevin Roney and Gary Reinhart. Don is survived by his beloved wife, Phyllis of Glendive; his daughter, Dawn (Dan) Guenzi of Glendive; his son, Sean Reinhart of Plentywood; his granddaughter, Heather Webster (Maxwell Brown) of Glendive; his great-granddaughter, Jaylissa Cicolani of Glendive; his great-grandsons, Zak Clifton of Glendive and Alex Williams of Billings; his great-great-grandsons, Jaxon Reed and Kyler Boehning of Glendive; sister-in-law, Betty Reinhart of Glendive; and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was the best Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Papa ever. We will forever love you, Papa.
