Thomas Henry Ferguson, affectionately known as Tom, was born on November 30, 1950, in Raleigh, North Carolina. He passed away on June 22, 2025, in Chatham County, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, and cherished memories.

Tom's career as a carpenter was marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence. He began his journey in the construction industry, where his passion for working with wood blossomed into a mastery of carpentry and woodworking. Known for his exceptional skill, Tom specialized in crafting custom interiors, cabinets, and furniture from many exotic woods, serving a diverse clientele that included institutional, business, and residential clients.

An alum of Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, Tom furthered his education by attending North Carolina State University. Throughout his life, he remained a quiet and kind man, known for his generosity of time and expertise. He had a remarkable ability to put others at ease, allowing those around him to feel welcomed and valued.

In his personal life, Tom enjoyed various hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He loved hiking and found solace in nature, while his appreciation for vintage vinyl records and jazz music reflected his deep-rooted passion for the arts. These interests enriched his life and provided an avenue for connection with others.

Tom leaves behind his sister, Vivian Ferguson Morphis of Hickory, North Carolina, and his brother, Dwight Blackmon Ferguson (wife Diane) of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is also survived by several beloved nephews: Henry Samuel Morphis (wife Lisa) of Hickory, North Carolina, and Thomas Chambers Morphis, Jr. (wife Becky) of Durham, North Carolina. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his great nephews and nieces: Hollis Morphis, Oscar Morphis, Ruby Morphis, and Madelyn Morphis.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Carolee and Henry Lee Ferguson, Jr., who provided him with a strong foundation of love and support throughout his life.
