Joann Drescher Obituary

JOANN DRESCHER
January 2, 1930 - October 5, 2024
Joann Drescher passed away at the age of 94 on October 5, 2024, in Flower Mound, TX. She was born on January 2, 1930, in Beaumont, TX, and will be missed by her family, many friends, and all who knew her.
Joann was married to Karl A. Drescher Sr. for 68 years, and during their marriage, they shared their values of love, resilience, commitment, and service with their children and others. Joann will be missed by her children, Karl A. (Arthur) Drescher Jr., and his wife Martha (Marty); Gary L. Drescher, and his wife Elizabeth (Kay); Jeanette L. Green, and her husband Charles (Chuck); her grandchildren James (Jimmy) A. Drescher, and his wife Amy; Loryn (Lori) A. Thomas; Kyle R. Drescher; Ross L. Drescher, and his wife Taylor; Alexander C. Green, and his wife Anna; great-grandchildren Jessica R. Lee, and her husband Wyatt; Katelyn M. Drescher; Peyton J. Drescher; Nico P. Drescher; Aubrey E. Flusche; Austin M. Green; Adam K. Green; and great-great grandchildren Raelinn L. Lee and Gracin E. Lee. She was preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Wardie (Lee) Scurlock, her great-grandson Alexander C. Green, II, and her husband Karl A. Drescher, Sr.
Joann went to Fox Tech High School and graduated from San Antonio Vocational and Technical School in 1946. She worked with Karl to run Monticello Laundry and Dry Cleaners, and later worked for insurance companies Jefferson Life, GECU, and LifeRe. She was a 73-year-member of the Order of Eastern Star (OES) where she served as Worthy Matron of Bexar Chapter No. 616 on several occasions and was appointed to many state-wide positions by the Grand Chapter of Texas OES. She was also a past Mother Advisor of the Huisache Assembly Order of the Rainbow for Girls, and later, a member of Daughters of the Nile Nekodah Temple No. 40 for over 30 years. She was also a former member and past President of the Sunrise Opti-Mrs Club; a former Deaconess and Chairman of the Board of Woodlawn Christian Church; and an active parent of PTAs at Mary Huppertz Elementary School, James Madison Elementary School, and Horace Mann Junior High School, as well as a member of the Thomas Jefferson Band Parents Association. Joann remained involved with others in her nineties by taking fencing lessons and being an ambassador to welcome new neighbors at Patriot Heights, an independent living facility, where she loved to decorate her door and hand out treats for the holidays.
Joann approached each day with grace and a smile that lit up many rooms and lives. She was beautiful on the inside and outside. Her life was a testament to her love for people, her creativity, ceaseless energy, and her strong belief in commitment and giving back to others; all while having fun. We find strength in knowing she is with the Lord, and through our loving memories.
