Karl Knoebel Obituary

SUNBURY - Karl D. Knoebel, 75, of 1725 Mile Hill Road, died Thursday morning, Nov. 19, 2009, at Manor Care, Sunbury.
He was born in Upper Augusta Township on Sept. 30, 1934, a son of the late Claude and Verna Marie (Connelly) Knoebel Sr. He married the former Shirley I. Adams on Aug. 1, 1956.
Karl was a graduate of Sunbury High School and served in the United States Army.
He was formerly employed by Shipman Industries and last be Celetex, both in Sunbury.
Karl was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury.
He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and the Upper Augusta Fire Company.
He enjoyed working on clocks and making knives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Karl D. Knoebel Jr. of Louisville, Ken. and Kevin D. Knoebel of Sunbury; and two brothers and two sisters, Claude Knoebel Jr. of Sunbury, Paul Knoebel of Clinton, Ohio, Ruth Koble of Sunbury, and Sue Ann Knoebel of Bethlehem.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Apple Chapel of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury, with the Rev. Richard Fangmann officiating.
Burial will be in the Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury.
Funeral arrangements by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
